and yes your reply was taken in bad faith because it was condescending and sarcastic instead of actually contributing to the discussion.

you then *completely* reframed what you actually said and acted like me calling your original words bad faith was somehow wrong.

so yeah i'm done with you.

stop advocating for an alternate reality in which AI suddenly stops being used. that isn't possible.

it's as if you're advocating for everybody to stop driving cars and go back to horses until we've figured out the pollution problem.

my point is that your anti-AI stance is a misguided way to address the societal issues you raised. it is reactionary and doesn't do anything to address the root causes.

but you seem intent on replying in bad faith so i'll leave you alone now.

you could reframe your stances to tackle the root social problems you're describing:

- pro-nuclear/green energy to cleanly meet demand (happens w/ or w/o AI)

re: water, usage is actually negligible compared to golf courses or agriculture. the "draining aquifers" narrative is mostly fearmongering

on this btw, ireland found that it was a net positive to gdp:

"for every €1 spent on the Basic Income for Artists scheme, €1.39 was made back"

Would a basic income scheme for artists work in the UK?
Struggling Irish creatives have been given good news. Ireland’s Basic Income for Artists pilot scheme has been made a permanent fixture.

- pro-labor & wealth redistribution: CEOs replacing staff with broken bots is a failure of unchecked capitalism, not tech

if AI creates efficiency, that value should go to workers (shorter weeks, higher pay). the enemy isn't the tech; it's the corporate greed (as usual)

- pro-artist safety nets - look at ireland's "Basic Income for the Arts" pilot

artists struggled with rent and exposure long before genAI. better give them the security to create regardless of tech trends
Basic Income for the Arts (BIA)
The new Basic Income for the Arts pilot scheme provides a basic income payment of €325 a week to 2,000 eligible artists and creative arts workers selected at random to participate.

do you care to explain your reasoning as to why being anti-technology is not a regressive stance?
November 27, 2025 at 2:57 PM
being anti-AI is the regressive stance Tim is talking about
