I spend my free time (ha!) working on the Victory by Any Means (victorybyanymeans.com) and creating spaceships for 3d printing (https://cults3d.com/en/users/tyrellohr/)
And here's a shot of some of my test prints from this weekend. Abbai Lakara, Lokita, Narkars, Tiraca, and Wimuk, Vree Xonn dreadnought, Cascor Norsca and Calaq, plus the BA Monitor and Aam escort thrown in round things out.

I had two other test models that unfortunately died on the FEP. 😭😭😭

I decided to do the Cascor starbase on a whim over the weekend. I just had an idea for how I could do it and still have it be a bit more visually interesting than just being a flat, boring base design. Took a bit longer to realize than I'd planned, but I think the end result works well enough.

Speaking of the Abbai fleet, here's a pic showing a selection of different Abbai ships together, as I've rebuilt them in my own style. The Shyarie and Kotha are the most recognizable from the original source material, and the Kastona is pretty close, too.

Here's some shots of my version of the Abbai Lakara (last image) and three shots of the Abbai Nakarsa Command Cruiser (a heavier armed Lakara variant). These give you an idea of how I approached redesigning this ship to get it to fit into the Abbai fleet a bit better.

For the VBAM books, I did this quick Aam escort frigate so I can use it for some of the internal and cover art for that book. The Aam ships have hexagonal ship bodies and engine thrusters, but then have these spike things (heat radiators, maybe?) festooned across their ships.

I've also done the Cascor Calaq Assault Fighter. This one was interesting because of its odd weapons loadout. I ended up putting the main fighter gun recessed into the nose of the fighter, and the larger ion bolter slung underneath it.

As I was finishing up the Medium Gunboat, I decided the forward section might look interesting if it was stretched out a bit and made into its own vessel. And thus the BA Monitor was born!

I also worked on a rendition of the Belt Alliance Medium Gunboat, also from Babylon 5 Wars. Another case of starting with the top-down silhouette and trying to figure out where all of the different design elements (weapons, thrusters, etc.) should go, and try to tie it into the EA/BA fleet.

I also finished up my version of the Cascor Norsca Battlecruiser from Babylon 5 Wars, based on the original silhouette from the SCS rather than the art and miniature they ended up producing for the ship later. I think this turned out okay, but we'll see what may still need to be tweaked.

On the VBAM front, I've been working on the map and system data/descriptions for Uncharted Territories, readapting the map I had started before to a vertical rather than horizontal orientation. Making some progress there, and I'll be working off and on this week to try and finish this up.

Some of the FASA ship images are a bit off model, which doesn't help. I was wondering why my Vas'Hatham looked a bit strange and then I realized I'd done mine based on the FASA art instead of the actual ship... and they didn't quite match! So, I ended up remodeling it so it would be a bit closer.

Work also started on the Cascor Norsa Battlecruiser, mainly blocking out elements where they should go on the hull, and getting the basic size/shape I wanted based on the top down silhouette of the original ship (as opposed to the miniature they did later that bore little to no resemblance!).

I also started work on the Nakarsa Command Cruiser variant of the Lakara after the test print. This adds an extra combat laser on the top, an enlargement of the forward hangar (to accommodate the six extra fighters), adding the rear quad array, plus an additional "spoiler" to the bottom of the ship.

Some pics of a test print of my redraw/remodel of the Abbai Lakara Cruiser. I need to bulk out the gun barrels on the combat lasers to make them less prone to breaking off, but otherwise I think it eliminates MOST of the hard, industrious edges while retaining the bulk of the original design.

Here's my first take on redesigning the Abbai Lakara Cruiser from #Babylon5Wars. I removed most of the industrial design elements from the ship, giving it a more rounded look. I tried retaining as much of the original design elements as I could, while keeping the ship consistent with the other Abbai

I gave the rear of the ship a big hangar deck because I didn't know what else to do with it, and since I'll be using the ship mainly as a 3d printed game piece, I figured it could be interesting to turn this into a slow carrier when I convert it into #Starmada and #VBAM.

Here's my take on the old Romulan Warbird that was first shown in one of the #StarTrek reference books (Chronology or Encyclopedia, I can't remember which!).

I started out trying to match it a bit more literally, but after redoing the wings twice I decided to just have fun with it.

Here are some pictures of the recent test prints. I can tell I had an issue at one point, with the Pioneer suffering catastrophic damage on the aft section (which it recovered from), and a line on the Mishakur where things were not going well. More supports are needed there!

I also did the two Alacan orbital satellites, which are basically just boxes with guns/missiles attached to them, depending on the variant. The top-down silhouettes I had to work with really didn't allow for any more interesting interpretation of the designs.

Here's the Abbai Kastona Cruiser (which became the Alacan Atrimis Light Cruiser) for comparison.

What I ended up doing with the Tacomi is to give it a very similar design style to the older Kastona/Atrimis, but redrew it to make it appear like it could be a lighter companion to the bigger ship.
September 30, 2025 at 1:58 AM
I also worked on the Alacan Tacomi Frigate, an Abbai ship the Alacans purchased for their fleet.

The issue here is the Tacomi ship art is literally just a copy of the Atrimis with one or two gun turrets moved around, despite the ships being vastly different in size. That led to some issues.

From the old #Babylon5Wars tabletop game, I recreated the Alacan Rotia light fighter. The Alacans were the first minor empire to be conquered by the Dilgar according to the old game lore, and this was their small, extremely bad fighter.
September 30, 2025 at 1:58 AM
I also did a version of the old fan Firestorm Destroyer. It isn't a perfect recreation, because I didn't feel like doing a 100% match for the shape of the original body. Instead, I did a "good enough" match, given the ship is intended to print as like a 30mm miniature -- being recognizable was key.
September 30, 2025 at 1:58 AM
I then took the Pioneer parts and kitbashed together the Tannhauser cruiser. It's mostly the same as the Pioneer, but with just enough parts moved around that it was slightly annoying to piece the ship back together from the latter's constituent parts.
