yeah, i personally know a few people who didn't drive out to a pq because their friend won and they didn't have anyone to go with anymore

nope. i'm pretty fine with the policy, but it does suck that sometimes it fucks with the best part of pq season, the day trips to nearby cities

pqs did trickle down invites, but just to 2nd place (since third/fourth is not actually well-decided with the current top 8 structure)

AND it's usually the only watch order they have. it's already hard enough convincing people to watch haruhi, but then you gotta be like "btw the website has the episodes in the wrong order, watch em like this: ###" and they just tune out and go watch something else ;-;
