It is mad, I agree! It’s just that I don’t think this quote reveals any particular continuity with nazism, just more run of the mill ethnocentrism, which is also bad, but different.

I agree with every part of this analysis, except the reading and translation of “reinen Deutschen”. In German it reads a lot more like “they aren’t exclusively German” than “they are ‘impure’ Germans”, which is still an outrageous abrogation of responsibility but does not have Nazi overtones, imo.
