If any of the staff at my school talked to a teenager like they spoke to a fellow world leader, I would be mortified by their disrespect. If any of our students spoke to staff that way, they’d get sent home. Absolutely disgusting. And in contrast with how they speak to fellow dictators… sheesh.

I think this is really important when working with kids, too. Their “fits” and “disregulation” are often the only response available in a powerless situation that is actually very unfair. Being calm would be a concerning lethargy to anyone watching and wishing they cared mire how they were treated.
