In case you were wondering, yes this works.

400.12: Some effects instruct a player to do something to a zone (such as “Shuffle your hand into your library”). That action is performed on all cards in that zone. The zone itself is not affected.

So I guess it doesn't affect tokens?

They wouldn't template the spell like this, it would be in two paragraphs. But I think the additional cost is only discover 3. The full stop means the rest is a separate effect.

No, copying a spell on the stack never requires you to pay the cost again. The copy "remembers" that the cost was already paid. So if you copy a spell with an X in its cost, X is the same value. If you copy Fling, "the sacrificed creature's power" refers to the originally sacrificed creature.

I'm playing Gloomseeker Pyles.
February 12, 2026 at 5:22 PM
I'm not sure I understand the question but the comprehensive rules lay out all the steps necessary to cast a spell. You put it the stack and then pay the costs.

So you cascade into an artifact with no mana cost and then tap it.

The bot keeps churning out broken cards! It's on a roll!
February 9, 2026 at 5:01 PM
Wow, this is really solid. I like it and it could see print. Putting counters on lands is unusual but easy to build around.
February 8, 2026 at 5:09 PM
There's not. There's so few cards with buyback that's it's pretty easy to check. But there's no reason you can't flicker an Archaeomancer and a Mnemonic Wall.
February 8, 2026 at 1:19 PM
Ghostly flicker deck, here I come.
February 7, 2026 at 5:29 PM
Is that a challenge?
February 3, 2026 at 5:20 PM
I forgot about that. You can tell I didn't pay much attention when Ikoria was new.
February 2, 2026 at 7:54 PM
Know what else does ability-stealing? Mutate! You could throw Nethroi on this!
February 2, 2026 at 5:43 PM
A solid effect, way too late in the game. 5/5, would only see niche play.
February 1, 2026 at 7:36 PM
Finally, a vanilla enchantment.
January 30, 2026 at 5:07 PM
Hmm, I bet there's a way to break this, but I'm just not sure how...
January 29, 2026 at 5:04 PM
Seems solid all around. I'd play it.
January 28, 2026 at 5:14 PM
If they have life totals can they be attacked?
January 28, 2026 at 12:54 AM
Three lands, needing only one mountain? That's incredible!
January 26, 2026 at 5:01 PM
That's one of the major reasons emblems were invented, so that triggered (and static) abilities can happen perpetually and affect new things even after the original source is gone.
January 26, 2026 at 3:31 PM
Definitely it would never be worded this way. But regular triggered abilities need an object to be the source. So it has to be a delayed triggered ability by 607.3a: "Delayed triggered abilities are created during the resolution of spells or abilities, ..."
January 26, 2026 at 3:31 PM
There's no way this could trigger itself. As part of the resolution of the spell, it creates a delayed trigger ability that didn't exist when you were putting this spell on the stack. Thanks to rule 603.7b, the ability doesn't specify a duration such as "this turn" so it triggers only once.
January 24, 2026 at 11:16 PM
Even that wouldn't work because of the static ability that gives the triggered ability. If the thing it's paired with isn't a creature, it doesn't have the triggered ability.

Draw how many? Your library?
January 23, 2026 at 5:03 PM
As far as four colour identity cards go, this is absolutely not worth trying to make work.
