5. Every week try to connect with a few more people in the industry on LinkedIN. Use a simple direct message on the connection request. “I am looking to grow my network in the XYZ industry and I am impressed with your knowledge in the field.”

4. Every week, I would try to setup at least 5 networking calls with someone in that industry. In every meeting, suggest 1-2 people they might want to meet based on the conversation, in hopes of getting 2 contact introductions from them of others in the industry.

3. I would start posting articles, writing posts and medium articles on that industry both here and on LinkedIN. As you post more in the industry, it adds to your credibility as an expert on that industry.

2. I would start reading books, articles, papers and attend webinars and trade shows for that industry — both to get smart and to network and meet people already in that industry.
