I’m a bit surprised NYC’s congestion pricing rollout hasn’t been covered in The Verge. I get that it isn’t obviously a “tech” story, but it’s a direct challenge to the agenda pushed by car and rideshare companies (who do get consistent coverage). Feels like a relevant part of the narrative.

All fair points, especially agreed on 3. It's hard for me to imagine a world where we actually enforce antitrust, but you're probably right that that would go a long way here.

True, treating it like a utility is another option. It has similarities with existing utilities like water, electricity, etc.

I’m curious, why don’t you think it makes sense as something to be provided by the government directly?

I think changing the animation style or the story would be worse. But I'll just watch the (fantastic) original, I don't need a shot-for-shot live-action version.
