I threw myself into making a key lime pie from scratch. I follow the Stella recipe including making my own condensed milk, which took double the recipe’s stated 45 mins of stirring. At the end as I scraped the last bit of custard into the pie crust I realized I had forgotten to bake the crust first.

Turns out USA doesn’t have the worst security theatre. India is at least marginally worse! Maybe there are even worse countries, but I haven’t visited one yet.

My gut feeling is that AI replacing programmers is like self-driving cars replacing human drivers. It might happen eventually but the people saying it’s this year or next are making Elon-level hot takes and vastly underestimating estimating the complexity of the edge cases of the task.

Admittedly when I booked the sunrise hot air balloon tickets I didn’t think about how I would need to be on my way at 4am. That’s on me.

I am flabbergasted how closed down Melbourne city is already at 9pm on a Thursday, especially with the AO going on. There’s still tons of people out and about but most food places are closed. Even the kitchen at my hotel (Mercure Southbank) closed at 8:30. Seems absurd to me.
