As far as I know, they are only selling 1 spec with two different storage sizes. And you can swap out the RAM if you want.

So this means I have seen my handheld try to run the Rx 580 with errors and my old laptop can run the same Rx 580 in the same enclosure with the same cable and have none.

So this means I have seen my handheld try to run the Rx 580 with errors and my old laptop can run the same Rx 580 in the same enclosure with the same cable and have none.
Finally had a breakthrough, but it's not the news I wanted to see. I was able to get my eGPU enclosure working with an old laptop that has a thunderbolt 3 port. It is producing no errors.
This suggests the most expensive part of my setup is defective, the handheld itself.

Tried swapping my 3060ti for an old AMD rx580 GPU. Same non-fatal errors. Actually even more of them than before. My monitor would periodically flicker too.
But it didn't ever outright crash for some reason.
Wish I had a modern AMD GPU to test out.

I could get my enclosure to connect, the nvidia driver would see my 3060ti inside, but anytime I ever tried to have it do work it would throw a fit and end up in some "turn on/turn off" crash loop.
I'm getting too old for this.

CachyOS uses a different nVidia driver (newer), a different kernel, a different display protocol (wayland), and a different desktop (plasma).
And yet the same exact thing occurred on CachyOS as it did on Pop!_OS.

After sleeping on it, (yes getting this far took the entire day, lol) this must mean something about my hardware is an issue.
Some sort of signal problem that the Windows driver can tolerate but that the Linux driver is sensitive to.
