The places we get to be, experiencing those sounds and smells.
I've had a lot of fun looking for the little things this season, for the presence it brings, and the joy I've found in the seemingly mundane.

The seasonal treat that resurfaces the same old memories it does every year.

The time we spend traveling to be with our people, especially when inconveniences inevitably arise.

The people we get to have these experiences with, especially when they're not the obvious people.

During the holidays, there's a lot of pressure to facilitate big, memorable moments. In serving this goal, it's easy to miss the little moments.
The memories we help to create for others even when we might not understand our impact.

Wherever home is for the holiday's, I hope the journey there and back is safe, and that your time there is cozy and full of joy.

I can't imagine that you knew the ripples your example would have, only that it was the best way you knew how to live.

Today makes nine years since I married my best friend. Without your example, I don't know that I would have known so confidently that she was the one I would be able to love for the rest of my life.

I'm so thankful for the example you set. You showed me what a marriage full of playful teasing and laughing looks like. You taught my dad and me what it means to respect the women in our lives. And you lived by what mattered most: her > family > everything else

I think a dark photo often conveys mystery and creates subjectivity. It doesn't reveal everything, allowing the imagination to fill in gaps. I think this can make a photo more relatable by allowing each viewer to experience the photo through a filter of themselves and their experiences.

Shorter days means less time for photography. Or does it?

Dark photos are something I took a lot more of when I was first getting back into photography. Partially because I was learning to properly expose a photo while only shooting on film, but also because

I longed to arrest all beauty that came before me, and at length the longing has been satisfied.

Their music is fantastic and their crowd engagement is on another level. If you're in Seattle, I definitely recommend checking out their next show.

These last couple weeks have been so much fun, bouncing between different jobs and projects. Photographing Bonkonomics was certainly a highlight—and my first concert gig.

This isn't difficult because I'm fairly excitable when it comes to engaging with people while I have a camera in hand. I've been told this way of working won't be sustainable which is only more motivation for me to make it work.
