2) yrs ago, i wanted to start a press that exclusively published story collections (still want to if i ever have the dough). decided i'd want the press to be somehow named after one of what i believe to be perfect american short stories. settled on a name that was a reference to "dog heaven."

two things about vaughn's work: 1) i can never quite pinpoint what it is about them, but the gemma stories in Sweet Talk, for me, capture the feeling of upstate NY maybe better than any other fiction has ever done.

very similar over here! i grew up in the city proper, came to pgh for grad school in 2011, but all my family has moved away from syracuse since then so i also haven't been back since 2014ish.

it's truly one for the freaks.
