I’ve just donated a small amount to show my support. They are way over their target now. I hope they have a brilliant day. And thank you for sharing this. It feels so bloody necessary at the moment.

In the last few months, I’ve noticed so many more bots on Facebook. I had curated myself a nice little shallow area in a rock pool of book nerds, but the bots were still showing up. That’s when I decided to come here.

It’s fine. We can sit at the sidelines, nursing a fake twisted ankle and talk about interesting stuff instead of doing the sports.

Not saying you’re wrong, but he’s using his privilege well at least. I’d rather these words were heard than not. I also hope the cops who attacked that poor bloke are identified and sacked.

I think that you are imbuing the great British public with far more brain cells than they, in fact, own.

Temu British Union of Fascists, is what I call them. And Farage is a Temu Mosley.

Bugger. I was really hoping the cops would be told by the governor to switch sides and protect the protesters. I mean, I know it was unlikely, but I was hoping.
June 9, 2025 at 5:55 AM
Those are NOT riots. If the governor of a city is calling them protests, saying the police support the protesters and demanding that the president withdraw uninvited troops from said city, what you have is an invasion, not a bloody riot.

There’s coverage of it in the UK. I’ve been following it on Bluesky all day, but I’ve been checking news sources too - the reputable ones - and it’s the headline in most of those.

My kid spent most of today in a hammock in the garden reading Bury Your Gays. It made said sprog very happy. They bloody love your books. So, all the while the readers are reading and enjoying your work, the rest can sod right off.

Given what happened to Poland, I’d say that was a wise move.
June 8, 2025 at 4:37 PM
The Poles were totally shafted before, during and after WW2.
June 8, 2025 at 10:15 AM
My Polish friend told me that her grandmother hid in a haystack for the best part of a week to avoid the Red Army. She nearly died of dehydration, but said that was still preferable to the alternative. War causes trauma and also allows the worst traits in people to be given free rein.

‘De-wormed’ 🤣 - I got completely distracted from the smut by that!
June 7, 2025 at 8:00 PM
I think that’s a pretty accurate description of him. I’m sorry your mum went through that.
June 7, 2025 at 6:59 PM
Yup. The Red Army was huge, but hideous.
June 6, 2025 at 5:00 PM
Agreed, although I imagine that the women and girls of Berlin wished to God that the Americans had got there before the Soviets.
June 6, 2025 at 4:47 PM
I think they helped rather a lot mate.
June 5, 2025 at 9:12 PM
Honestly, that answer makes me more hopeful.
June 5, 2025 at 8:52 PM
Bloody hell! That’s awe inspiring news. Wow.
June 5, 2025 at 6:48 PM
But they are being watched by dedicated volunteers 24/7.
June 5, 2025 at 6:45 PM
I’d be surprised if the average idiot could climb up there. Also, ospreys are bloody massive. You’d definitely know just how impressive those talons are on a deeply personal level if you tried to get up there.

Do you think there’ll be another election? I ask this in all seriousness, having taught a course about Germany 1895-1945. Right now the equivalent of the 1933 Enabling Act looks like it just passed.
