Were you looking for a number like 10x better? I can say for myself that 20 years ago I wanted to understand task-based fmri but did not at all, and now I am very satisfied with what I understand, thankfully.

And it’s like with kids when parents ignore them they stop talking

we aspire to provide that "one place" at jocnf.pubpub.org, which is explicitly set up to host threaded discussions. It's taking rather longer than we had hoped to really catch on, but it's ready when you are!

Neither do I

Thanks for the support friends. Having only 20 days notice combined with threats of disposal was stressful but thankfully UBC Psychiatry bailed me out. I still have my office and computer lab space though .. this was only the EEG equipment space.

Because formulaic manuscripts full of cliched phrasing are how science advances I guess? Time for a shift, friends and colleagues. We can now advance science without the formality of academic journals. I for one cannot wait. Only depends on ourselves actually reading/interacting outside that system

Thank to all who are encouraging this series of pre-publication initiative from a fresh perspective. Almost done two modes to go!

The evidence consistently supported the FoVF cognitive mode as involving activation when there is focus on the features of the visual display to enhance task performance, and deactivation when attending to certain features may detract from task performance.

8/11 are completed and the last 3 (DMB, Response, Visual), will be completed soon, and compiled into a free book "Cognitive Modes Detectable by fMRI", complete with anatomical doodles, ***and a way to determine function using task-induced BOLD changes for evidence***

Don’t hide the good stuff: Scientific advancement in task-based fMRI is slowed by not showing event-related BOLD (erBOLD) changes alongside anatomical patterns

If you're wondering what I'm on about, check out all the task-based cognitive modes detectable by fMRI, pre-published here:
