My library uses overdrive, and Kobo has a version that connects their eReader directly, without a computer. Occasionally there are ebooks that fail, and are only readable via their newer app, or via browser. Not my eReader.

Our high school had a PDP 8. Fed it cards marked with pencil. Did have 3 terminals and a PAPER tape drive. There were physical switches on the front, that you set the individual bits to input the cold start routine... Paper based space war!! "Updated" to Pets and Apples before I left.
