building small models of big things
From memory:
Fighters: real hotblooded heartfelt shonen hours
Try: new twist, interesting but doesn't quite live up
Divers: simplest writing by far, too kids-show-y for me
Re:RISE: new direction, better writing, didn't fully pay off its setup imo but still neat, retroactively makes Divers better

I'm guessing you've already watched Build Fighters and Try? If not, highly recommend Build Fighters; easily my favourite of the bunch

Cool to see myself going through the stages of grief in real time.

I'm pretty sure engineers overwhelmingly agree lol

given the parts thickness, I have to assume that cape is a single painted part
possibly pre-painted given how central it is to the look of the design

now _this_ is Char-coded

see also static depictions of dynamic motion in shonen series.
the Dezaki triple-pan is a smart workaround, but it still doesn't hit the same

Okumura starts as a self-insert protagonist, then the series uses him to examine the fundamental problem of self-insert characters. (and it does so with such compassion)

Lilysa's motivations for cosplaying are initially flimsy, then figuring out what drives her becomes her central character arc.

I only know a little bit about it (I discovered it through the music), but randomly last year I was reading a book and suddenly it started talking about some things YU-NO does and wow
I was floored, single-handedly revealed my knowledge of the medium as fundamentally incomplete

(I'm not in the area unfortunately, but the point stands)

I would like to see that any day of the week

There's so so much good stuff! I try to limit to 4-5 shows per season and sometimes it's genuinely difficult, I've had to cut some reportedly fantastic shows from the lineup.

My initial read was Machu is Khara, but now I'm thinking Shuji is Khara
(or maybe both are, with GQuuuuuuX being an internal conversation within the psyche of Khara)

It really does. Great layouts too.
(Not gonna post spoilers but I'm thinking of a few really good uses of the division between pages in volume 6.)

Of course, cultural narratives shape us and our expectations of the world, but I still think at least a part of us exists beyond those influences.

This is maybe especially true in your case, given that you resonated with this gendered narrative _before_ you were prescribed that narrative.
