Throw-back days when a man was a man, and pitchers were expected to pitch all nine innings, hurt or not, wind, rain and snow not factors. Of course, many of them couldn't lift their pitching arm above their shoulder the rest of their lives... or used so much horse liniment they whinnied.

It's one of the un-written rules of baseball. You only walk a batter when it loads the bases or creates a double-play situation. Walking Ohtani every single time would see fans on both sides ticked off eventually.
