The paper reporting findings from our HPRU BBSTI study with trans and gender diverse people on their perceptions of sexual health services in the UK is now open access!

An infographic summarising the findings of our research project - titled "One way for another you're not going to fit" that reports the perspectives of trans and gender diverse peoples' on sexual health services in the UK. On the left hand side of the visual there are pictures that summarise the barriers: that user perspectives are missing from the literature, there is gate-keeping and denial of care for trans people who are deemed to be too complex. People also reported issues with accessing appropriate testing kits and prevention interventions like pre-exposure prophylaxis because they did not fit cis-heteronormative assumptions. On the right hand side, the graphic depicts recommendations, including care that recognises, understands and affirms trans service users; a clear statement of trans policies that gives people confidence they will get good treatment. Hallmarks of inclusivity can make people feel welcome and include appropriate options on forms, gender neutral facilities, using pronouns in introductions and adoption person centred care. Participants also noted that you could 'just talk to people normally!'
