Buck naked" is the original phrase, likely from the early 1900s and possibly related to the bare "buckskin" of a male deer, while "butt naked" is a newer version that arose from a mishearing of "buck" as "butt".

I only watched the movie. I mean, like 20 minutes of it. I couldn't stomach it.

As a person who dislikes spoilers, I prefer to stop at the version that I've read or watched. For example, The Matrix, which is one of my favorite trilogies, I wouldn't read its book if it came out.
