Though Hazel tries to be optimistic...she is not an optimistic person.

Hazel frowns but just shakes her head. "It's a never ending battle, no amount of help or fighting is going to fix it. I've been fighting for years and I'm no closer to freedom than when I was a kid. As long as I exist I will never be free, not completely."
