Uncanny valley effect. I think the Mansion in OG RE1 is the same kinda vibe for me, even if it's pre-rendered. The weird, almost green screen lighting of that game created such a striking sense of place that it helped me to remember the entire layout all these years later.

The soundtrack and some moments in the story are genuinely good. I think the games way too easy to play though and the overall plot is a bit too messy. Cast isn’t the strongest either, Ultemecia suffers coming after Kefka AND Sephiroth and before Jecht too.
