Books, cats, ADHD and autism, my world in a nutshell.
I had a great month for books. “When the Tides Held the Moon” and “Water Moon” are my new favorite books of all time. Water Moon is beautiful and twisty and emotional and left a mark on my soul.

And if you want to laugh out loud, Leslie F*cking Jones!

April was a slow reading month because I GOT MARRIED!!! lol The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks was fascinating and my favorite of the month.

The school board candidate I was supporting just came out as anti-trans. Now the choice is between a MAGA Trumper and an anti-trans Dem. I hate it here in Texas. Maybe I should wear my Protect Trans Kids” shirt while blockwalking.

Much slower month. Some heavy books plus Hello Kitty Island Adventure reduced my pages read significantly. Kiki’s was a much needed palette cleanser after The Reformatory and Where They Last Saw Her which I highly recommend but I cried throughout both.

Every time I see a cybertruck in the wild it's like sorry I don't believe a real person bought one of these with their own money. These are paid actors

My 10 year old drew this awesome picture of Alastor from Hazbin Hotel. I would love @amirtalai.bsky.social to sign it at a con this summer…. But is it weird since he’s so young? I heavily redact what episodes and scenes he can watch, it’s mostly about the music, but he’s a fan of what he has seen.

I highly recommend Tananarive Due’s The Reformatory. It’s a tome and very heavy read, but I have shed so many tears for Robbie and Gloria. I’m only about 2/3 finished but the emotions are so real and raw

Please please please read this. #booksky📚💙

I thought this was from The Onion 🤦‍♀️
Well that’s a headline I did not except to see. Ever.

Protests are happening everywhere so find one that works for you and let’s show up!

Let’s flip the Silent Majority to the LOUD Majority.

He is afraid of protestors.

Because they are the canaries in the coal mines alerting everyone of the dangers!

When the kid wants to be an astrophysicist, you stay up until 2 am together to see the lunar eclipse.

I needed a light fun read after my last book so I picked up Isaac Marion’s Warm Bodies. Holy cow it was so philosophical for a zombie romance!! Great read, but now I need another pallet cleanser. Thinking of reaching for Kimberly Lemming.

I don’t even know where to start culling this list. Even at my current reading rate it would take me over 15 years to clear this TBR. Of these I own 381 between ebooks and physical books (thanks Stuff Your Kindle days….) #booksky📚💙

The Montgomery Bus Boycott lasted a year. The Feb 28 economic blackout is a decent start, but to make an impact we have to keep going. It’s difficult, it’s inconvenient, it can be expensive, but continue to vote with your dollars. Boycott Boycott Boycott

Please support Michael LaBorn, he has done so much to support Black and Brown authors! I bumped my subscription from $5 to $12
To meet my goal, I need to convince 199 people to subscribe to my publishing community… in two days. That’s… that’s a lot. But I’ve seen what this space can do. So let’s do this! If you can spare $5 or $12 and think Black & brown books matter, please subscribe! 💪🏽

Just finished My Monticello by Jocelyn Nicole Johnson. Normally this is a book I could devour in a couple of days but the heaviness of it was difficult and the main story was very timely. I highly recommend this! Our nation was built on the backs of slaves, not white aristocrats.

Day 13 of me asking you to use this Black History Month to make a difference. My publishing imprint is putting out our first book later this year & I need your help to fund more projects. Consider investing $5 or $12 a month! Every dollar helps us invest in authors.
