Reading climate report updates increasingly feels like looking in a mirror and watching your reflection age, die, and decompose on repeat. After a while, the horror washes away and is replaced by a profound emptiness. I hope others feel differently about it than me.

I use AI to create images. It’s a tool, not a worker replacement, a guidance counselor, a supplement for academic learning or any other human virtue, my hobby included. It must be regulated, as LLMs have demonstrated routine inabilities to give truths and accurate statements.

As someone who uses AI for stupid hobby BS and is also a history nerd, LLMs have no place in the history class. If you're supplanting this technology for source citation in student papers, you ought to take a long, hard look at how your teaching methods will affect students long-term.

David, in your opinion (didn’t know if you want to be @-ed for a question, so playing it safe), at what point in the warming acceleration process will we begin to see every successive year become the hottest year on record? My money’s on within 20, but it’s an uneducated guess.

This can be both revolting and extremely impressive. We went from "Can the AI create a coherent face" to "Can the AI stop smearing fingers during animation" in 4-5 years; that kind of technological progress feels almost bewildering.
