It's not just them. They're just the ones who drew the short straws. There are a lot more senators who are culpable but don't want the blame. Don't buy it.

He's a "senior status" judge, meaning he's effectively retired and his spot has already been filled. Senior judges can still participate in some administrative duties, but they don't normally get assigned cases.

Goals are only half of the equation. The other half is effectiveness. Most Dems have completely failed on the effectiveness part, which is where the old/inexperienced criticisms come from.
