Desperately seeking leftie sewer rats from #auspol Twitter. Rebuilding community here. Voted Yes23. One of the 40 dirty lefties on the bird platform that Dutton despises. Don’t be like Dutton. Be kind to one another. Hoping ALP finds the backbone to be ALP

Not a full examination but an interesting article mentioning a lot of things about the Whitlam govt that are not often pointed out in the media, who always like to spin his term as an economic shambles.
It's by Greg Jerico.

Gough dreamed of a country that never was, and asked why not?

Malcolm Fraser's handwritten speech notes for his announcement of commission 11 November 1975. MPs were stunned when, at 2 pm, Fraser rose from the Opposition benches to announce he had been commissioned to form a government.

Letter of dismissal from Sir John Kerr to Gough Whitlam 11 Nov 1975. This letter was handed to Whitlam by Kerr in the study at Government House. Despite the fact it brought an end to his government, Whitlam kept it for many years, recognising it as an official record and a piece of history.

Fraser's handwritten notes on conversation with Kerr, 11 Nov 1975. Kerr called Fraser on the morning of 11 Nov to discuss the conditions of his appointment, including a guarantee that Supply would pass. Kerr later claimed he had not spoken to Fraser that morning - this document suggests otherwise.

Letter from Chief Justice Barwick to Kerr, 10 November 1975. Although Whitlam had expressly told Kerr not to seek Barwick's advice, believing himself, as PM, to be Kerr's rightful adviser, Kerr did so anyway. Barwick prudently delivered his advice in writing, knowing that every word might matter.
