Sometimes I feel like my meds don’t help at all. I am still moderately to severely depressed all the time, I still have hypomanic cycles. I accidentally skipped my PM meds on Monday night. By Tuesday night I was having a full blown episode of grief and su*cidal ideation. I usually only experience that leading up to Shark Week. I guess my meds do help keep the despair muffled for the most part. I was crushed and horrified that my life is slipping away — that the majority of my waking hours are spent doing soulless tasks for a company that sees me as a resource rather than a person. I get paid barely enough to pay my bills, money is still a major stressor in my life. And for what? To make shareholders a profit. Make rich people richer. I sure don’t see an improvement in my life situation as a result. The capitalist construct that the world has imposed on itself makes common people into indentured servants, essentially. We work so we can buy stuff which in one way or another profits the businesses we work for. Puts me in mind of the 1946 song “Sixteen Tons” (a banger, look it up) with the lyrics “You load sixteen tons (referring to tons of coal—the composer grew up in a coal-mining town) what do you get? Another day older and deeper in debt. Saint Peter don’t you call me ‘cause I can’t go, I owe my soul to the company store.” Anyway, just a peek at the kind of sad, hopeless stuff that I ruminate on. That word, “ruminate,” reminds me of another rant. But that is for another day. Happy Friday Eve!

And my partner is the “vile” one for bringing up the irony. 🙄

That is a prudent deal. It is rational. Nobody talks like this. They live in a complete alternate universe.”

Took a trip to the coast today to set my eyes on that big mass of salty liquid that separates us from our European brothren. Got some nice cloud shots while on the road and after we stopped for dinner on the way back.

My paternal grandparents and some of their children (others are not born yet). This is probably around 1957. My dad is the baby being held in his father’s arms. He is the middle boy in the family, with two older and two younger brothers. He also has four sisters.

Over the summer my nephew was staying with my parents and sent me this photo. The church is surrounded by hay fields.

Our neighbors used to punish their foster kids by making them sit out there for hours and hours, even into the night when the coyotes were howling.

I grew up in this church. Dad was its pastor.

They shunned my dad when I was 16, but even before then I’d lost my faith.

Dad never lost his, though. Now he believes God speaks to him directly.

#selfportrait from several months ago during a depressive episode. When I wasn’t working I could only lay in bed, sometimes sleeping but mostly wide awake. Mind racing. Feeling myself getting pulled deeper into depression.
