He’s kind of laughing. But not, like, nice laughing.
What a list!

You can keep your Blood and Guts. Cage matches clearly peaked with Fortune vs EV 2.0: Lethal Lockdown in 2010.

Or 2011. I can’t remember.

Of course it’ll be insanely biased (I mean, have you read a wrestler’s book before? An autobiography?) but at the least it’ll be more interesting than that by the numbers history of AEW that just came out.

Nailed it as usual. 👍

I think it’s the tone that doesn’t work for me, like it’s supposed to be jokey and weird but it falls totally flat. I’ll keep reading his Batman run - my understanding is it goes TOTALLY off the rails later on, but this wasn’t for me. 2/5

Finally, I read Tom King’s The Gift - a Booster Gold guest starring Batman comic and… yeah not so much for me. I really like King, though I’ve noticed he’s marmite for some people. Mister Miracle, Adam Strange and The Vision all hit for me, and I like most of his Batman stuff. But this? Yeesh…

Peacemaker Tries Hard is fun enough, definitely trying to capture the energy John Cena brings to the character. I like the art and can’t hate on anything that features Monsieur Mallah and the Brain too much, even if a lot of feels like low hanging fruit. 3/5.

I’ve not really fucked with Johns for a long a long. I remember enjoying Green Lantern Rebirth and a few bits of Infinite Crisis, but that was 20 years ago. Doomsday Clock and those boring ass Earth One comics really don’t do much for me. Three Jokers gets 2/5 and likes it.

The Three Jokers is very much a Geoff Johns comic book, in so much as it’s a spiritual sequel to something much better than it is (in this case The Killing Joke and Death in the Family) with ok art and a bunch of shit you can ignore after the fact (Barbara and Jason? Bleugh).

Agreed. As an aside, whilst I really enjoy AEW, I usually follow specific workers over a company. Like back in the day when I was a Punk/Joe/Styles mega fan, I’d hoover up everything they did - ROH/TNA/Japan/fecking IWA MS - rolling my eyes at any tribalism. Feels like I’m in the minority with that.

I mean, I don’t think it was a good career move for the two of them but (not for the first time) some of the fan reaction to a situation like this leaves a sour taste.

Watched the clip of Nixon talking about their perspective and she’s choosing her words very carefully. I think she’s surprised by the level of vitriol that came their way (Sapp mentioned death threats over on X) & trying to deescalate. Love AEW, but I hate the cultyness of some of the fans.

Personally I think putting the racist old sex pest on TV again is worse than a couple of jobbers making stupid career decisions, but what do I know.
