𝗕𝗥𝗘𝗔𝗞𝗜𝗡𝗚. A month ago eMedia told investors its cancelling one of its weekday dramas, and etv now confirms that it has cancelled the tired Scandal! after 20 years. The Ochre Moving Pictures production will broadcast its final episode in June 2026.

𝗦𝗛𝗢𝗖𝗞𝗘𝗥. Massive plunge in MultiChoice's DStv subscriber base in Kenya. According to the Communications Authority of Kenya (CAK) latest sector statistics report, DStv Kenya subscribers have plunged a shocking 84.2% from 1.19 million in June 2024 to just 188 824 (June 2025) after big price hikes.

Who know what it means, if it's signifcant, or just a normal branding change, but with Canal+'s takeover of MultiChoice complete, and French bosses who have arrived at MultiChoice, a SuperSport staffer quipped "how the DStv branding is being removed in some places".

𝗘𝗦𝗣𝗡 𝗮𝗱𝗱𝗲𝗱. The two ESPN American sports TV channels will be added to Disney+ in South Africa from 2 October as linear streaming channels. The channels remain on DStv and will be exactly the same (simulcast) on Disney+.

𝗣𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗲 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗯𝗹𝗲𝗺. Insiders tell me Canal+ CEO Maxime Saada was supposed to do his press conference from inside MultiChoice City this morning. But he encountered plane problems last night, couldn't take off, and it was instead done online from Canal+ headquarters in Paris.

𝗕𝗥𝗘𝗔𝗞𝗜𝗡𝗚. With the Canal+ takeover of MultiChoice complete, Calvo Mawela is out as MultiChoice CEO and replaced by David Mignot as Canal+ CEO of Africa and MultiChoice. Calvo Mawela will be Africa board chairperson. MultiChoice's financial year end moves from 31 March to 31 December.

Netflix now says it's not willing to give prior media access since the Storyscope-produced series is allegedly 'sensitive'.
