Goldberg is the only one on that chat even remotely deserving of a security clearance - he removed himself and didn’t publish until after the planned operation.

If Republicans were patriots instead of partisan hacks - as in, concerned more about country than party - heads would roll. People would lose their jobs, their clearances, and would be indicted.

Professor G. - the Republican Party is now Trump’s party. It doesn’t stand for anything beyond Trump. Not for free trade, not for rule of law, not for standing with our friends and allies. There is not one erstwhile Republican principle they won’t throw overboard if Trump tells them to.

We are, other than having had *snow* yesterday, and freezing temps! Texas is not designed for that kind of nonsense.

One really nice thing to check out are the filter / mute options.
For a while, my feed was flooded with the Kendrick Lamar v Drake nonsense, which I don’t care about one bit.
Super easy to mute all messages with those keywords for, say, four weeks.
Much more control over what you see in your feed!

And what exactly are those efforts?
When has the US kept Euros from buying more Leopards or Challengers or Leclercs? Or more PzH2000? They haven’t.
The US arms industry is competing with Europe’s, sure, but nobody is keeping Euros from investing in and buying from the Euro MIC.
January 9, 2025 at 6:32 PM
It happened because the US *kept* spending while the Euros slashed defense budgets and enjoyed their “peace dividend”.
Europe *does* have an MIC. Rheinmetall, KNDS, H&K, FN Herstal, BAE, Leonardo, Dassault, Thales, Airbus… and all of those mostly for EXPORT. Cuz Euros don’t buy.
January 8, 2025 at 10:59 PM
What’s hypocrisy about this? The US is the main pillar of Euro defense, & would like Euros to get more involved in their own defense. That’s not hypocritical, nor is it suppressing Euro defense industry. It’s telling Euros to build out def industry & take more responsibility for their own security.
January 7, 2025 at 10:08 PM
Euros can&should buy more from Euro arms industry; not the US who’s keeping them from doing so, in fact US has been urging Euros to spend more on defense.
Europe has the know-how & the companies, but if Euro countries don’t buy much, & they didn’t, those companies won’t build out capacity, simple.

Correction, nukes too, see France.
January 5, 2025 at 9:03 PM
How does US suppress Euro arms dev?! Europe develops & produces jets, missiles, tanks, small arms, artillery, ships, submarines, … Anything short of nukes.
Problem is, Euros aren’t buying enough of it themselves. B/c they’ve been relying on the US Military for deterrence. Can’t blame US for that.

Excellent use of my tax dollars.
My main complaint is that more wasn’t sent sooner, but better late than never.
May all of that equipment find a Russki to … demilitarize.
January 5, 2025 at 7:27 PM
You still get more, heh.
January 3, 2025 at 3:47 PM
Europe has plenty arms manufacturers.
Now let Europe spend the kinds of money on the military as the US does.
But nooo, you’d rather have healthcare for you people and stuff.

“Take to court” ≠ “impeachable”.
A US Supreme Court that previously ruled the President can’t be held criminally liable for crimes committed in office, would hardly void same President’s foreign policy decision.
MAGA isn’t so precarious that they’d impeach and convict Trump. We’ve seen that. Twice.
