Ivy is into Wonderwoman now, and I found the TV show and the Superfriends DVDs at the library. She is loving all of it and whoa the music & soundtracks tunnel straight through my brain — way more memory unlocking than I imagined.

it is easier to break thing than it is to create and build things

I’ll keep my conclusions to myself, but wanted to share this really incredible film about a subject many of us are passionate about.

When I fall into that trap, I think of the records and movies produced in the late 80s and early 90s, arguably the peak of mastery of film and tape, lighting and acoustics.

It took me an embarrassingly long time to notice that this documentary was shot on film, because it is common to think of film as being less sharp, or less colorful, or less clean than digital, but that is some kind of mixture of marketing and nostalgia, or cultural amnesia.

On the one hand, it made me want to drop all of the practical compromises I’ve made by producing using digital audio, allowing me to comprehensively enjoy the sound quality that is only possible in the analog realm. So it was really inspiring in that sense.
