Nova Centurion: basically everything I want from a new Nova series! Great cosmic designs and respect for his continuity.
Captain America: surprised by how much I liked this arc. Very thematically in line with Captain America and I’m looking forward to the modern day arcs.

Batman/Deadpool: solid crossovers all around in this one. My favorites were Constantine/Dr Strange and Nightwing/Wolverine.
One World Under Doom: good end to an event I think needed a tighter plot and better social commentary. Excited for the aftermath!

Alright reviews of comics from this week (1/3)

Titans: pretty good! This book keeps improving, and I’m really interested in how the Starfire & Raven subplots progress.
Nightwing: good as usual. It feels to me like it’s a weird place for the central conflict, but I’m still invested.

Shame that the guy who made this got the worst Ninja Turtle named after him.

Reviewing comics from last week

Mortal Thor continues to be a great urban fantasy of rebuilding Thor’s legend.
Battleworld is VERY fun and has great Hank Pym characterization.
Imperial ends up pretty regressive regarding Cosmic Marvel.

I kinda love Wraith from Annihilation Conquest. I am compelled by how edgy he is and I am confident he talks like The Chosen from Smosh.

Gunn saying this about Brainiac is good given how much variation Brainiac has. Gunn comparing Batman’s damn oval to one of the most integral parts of Wonder Woman is CRAZY.

He’s got the spirit but is very confused.

This is most I’ve enjoyed Flash in two years! The art’s kinda ehh, but Impulse is very funny and I love a good time travel arc.

Fantastic Four returns to a one-off sci-fi story format, and this is another welcome Alicia highlight issue. I adore how much this run features her.

Green Lantern slowed down too much for me after the Starbreaker crossover, and I didn’t like the art 😞. Also the cover lies, Hal & Carol had 1 scene.

Moon Knight’s super cool as usual, and it’s spooky! It’s still my favorite book at Marvel and I’m intrigued by comic!Layla.

Ok comics I read last week and my thoughts on them (1/3)

Immortal Legend Batman continues to be a really fun magi-sci spin on Batman’s corner of DC.

New History of the DCU ended! This issue is recent material and thus interests me the least, but it was a necessary end to a good & necessary book.

Forgot to post about last week’s comics I read.

In short: all good & fun reads! Standouts were FF & Nightwing.

My first Batman comic! What’s yours? #Batman

It’s not even about Batman, it’s about Nightwing! 😂

Did y’all even read the rest of the story? It is EXPLICITLY about Diana convincing Steve to not enact personal vengeance and let the people humiliate Hitler on the world stage.
This is both in-character and the SMART thing to do!

Speaking of said media partners… looks like Gretchen’s firing came from above DC. Likely due to the recent bid for WB by Paramount.

Given Fraction is openly pro LGBT+, this is likely from Jorge Jimenez.
Coin flip if it’s on purpose or just what he ended up at trying to evoke DKR-style goons, either way the editors should not have allowed this to get through.

All DC this week! All excellent art!

Cheetah & Cheshire: keeps mostly being quieter character moments I like.

Batgirl: I love that this is firmly a fantasy martial arts book, and Cass’ family keeps being weird.

Batman: very nice character work, very toyetic, and I’m very interested.

Quick reviews for 4 comics last week: I like ‘em all!

Nightwing and Vision & Scarlet Witch have been consistently solid, good character pieces with cosmic nonsense.

Titans was fun & like this fill-in artist way more, and Imperial got significantly more interesting this issue asdfghjkl

You really don’t understand X-Men until you read Chris Claremont. Not because it’s particularly good X-Men, because it’s not, but because it keeps you so invested despite being so stupid. Really teaches you that Benoit Blanc gave the best approach to reading X-Men.
