Really shows the limitations and flaws in the "we want players that want to be here" philosophy over "we want players that a proud to compete no matter where they play" philosophy. But they got burned by Eichel being a selfish little shit and so won't trust anyone ever again.

It's just example 8000 of the management being completely inept and too eager to tie themselves to their guys who "want to be here." The kind of shit that would get most GMs fired.

Yeah I mean he's never been consistently good, but they still felt the need to give him the full reigns when Ullmark decided to leave. He's been outplayed by journeymen and old guys many many times over his career. And that's as much on the GM and coaches here as it is on him.

UPL has just never felt like he has the hunger to compete. I'm not sure if it's just because they basically anointed him after Ullmark left and he never felt like he had to earn his spot, or what, but he doesn't have the fire.

I would like Beane to publicly argue his case for keeping his job, given that he has failed to address this team's most glaring needs year after year, has left them with an inflexible cap situation, and has spent high draft picks on players who are at best underwhelming and at worst busts.

If this team's forwards were just Doan, Zucker and Benson cloned 4 times each, they'd be a much better team. They wouldn't have the kind of skill that Tage and co. bring, but they'd be much better.
