Finished Vol. 3 of A Sign of Affection!
Yuki and Itsuomi officially become a couple. They are so cute and I love seeing their relationship grow. Yuki is a wonderful main character and I like seeing her develop more confidence.

I just finished This Ravenous Fate by Haley Dennings!
My fav parts: historical setting, sapphic romance,
Black vampires, analogies on racism & queerness.

My qualms: slow pace, unsatisfying reveals, abrupt ending, repetitive, lack of yearning/connection of characters.

In this scene Elise’s dad is basically accusing her of going against the family and being tempted by the vampires My notes on the first romantic scene in the novel. Layla drinks Elise’s blood for the first time and they both catch feelings. My annotation says this feels rushed even tho the book was very slow My notes on the last few pages of the book. Elise’s dad reminds me of the dad from scandal, and I list the antagonists (Mr Wayne and dr Harding)

Happy July! I finished Frieren Vol. 2 and it was WONDERFUL! Frieren and Fern add Stark (an unlikely hero) to their party. Stark’s character is the epitome of the phrase “do it scared.” He may be trembling, but he learns not let his anxiety stop him from being courageous

Y’all this may be my favorite book of the year! Each short story has a historical introduction rooted in Black southern history and culture.
My favorite stories were “The 11:59 and “The Sight.” Both posed important life lessons, such as accepting fate and honoring your gifts within.✨

This was a cute and easy read. It reminded me of the anime my roommate the cat with the multiple povs. It tackles themes of loneliness, depression, and companionship.

Harriet Tubman: Live in Concert
Inspiring, reflective, and creative!
This is easily my favorite book of the year. Bob the Drag Queen did an incredible job of introducing comedy, historical accuracy, and fantasy. There were moments when I was laughing and crying.

Frieren: Beyond Journey's End

I enjoyed the dynamic between Frieren and her team, and her training Fern (after being tricked by the priest). Their quest to collect magic was beautifully illustrated and full of funny/touching moments. The concept is really unique! #mangasky #booksky

Current read: Neverwraith by Arianna Isabella (MY FIRST ARC)! It is a dark fantasy with great world building so far. It’s giving pirates, dragons, revenge, and sea creatures!!
