Modern-day Turkiye stands as a continuation of the Ottoman Empire, inheriting its culture, state institutions, military, beliefs, flag, and traditions. What has changed is not the essence, but the form of governance-no longer ruled by a monarchy, it is now guided by the principles of democracy.
Since 1984, the PKK terrorist organization has carried out terrorist acts against the Republic of Turkey and its people. It has now announced that it has laid down its arms and dissolved the organization.

Turks do not enter their homes with shoes on. They take off their shoes right outside the door and place them in the vestibule inside the house.
