This is one of the ships I use to point out how insane this fandom is about wol/npc. The fandom i was raised by would have seen pretty quiet tall guy/chatty pretty short guy who barely met as a playground for fanfic. The possibilities are endless and canon disproving you? No chance of that.

Blaming Louisoix for Thancred’s trauma in an rp, as is good and right. R'vanoh's horrified at what he's become b/c of the meddling and what little choice Thancred’s had. Trauma, abuse, and the messiness of recovering from it... delicious. Life isn't smooth or simple- not even the road to recovery.
"You were seventeen, Thancred. *Seventeen* and off on one of your first missions with a man they didn't expect to bring you back," R'vanoh growled. "I should have slit Louisoix's throat then..." Thancred's eyes went wide, seeing how angry R'vanoh was at the man. At a man, he knew he once respected.

R'vanoh played sex chicken with Lahabrea to try and convince him to leave, yeah. No, Thancred aint happy about it.
R'vanoh had missed it, the swirl of Thancred’s soul. His aether unbound within his body. After the festivities, they dispersed. Most of the scions returned to the waking sands. R'vanoh took Thancred home. It wasn't anything special, just an apartment. It was his though, safe as things could be. Malms safer than the Waking Sands at the very least. Thancred had showered and joined him in bed, exhausted after his ordeal. R'vanoh couldn't help it though. That his, whatever Thancred may be, was here kept him focused. “Lay down and sleep, Vanoh,” Thancred murmured. “I'm too tired for whatever has you making that face.” “No,” he replied and placed his hand on Thancred’s bare chest. “You can fall asleep for all it matters although I doubt you can. I'm… I need this, you'll let me have it.” “...what?” “I need to see and feel that Lahabrea didn’t leave anything behind. That you're mine and only mine. I'm going to inspect your soul and you won't fight it,” R'vanoh clipped out. It was an order, one that sent a chill through Thancred. “No, Vanoh. Don't, please? Y'shtola and Urianger both checked my aether. I'm myself. No surprises. You know they're both loyal and extraordinary mages-” Thancred's voice was cut off with a garbled shout around two of R'vanoh's fingers. Rage flashed across his face and he bit down in warning on the fingers in his mouth- threatens enough he hoped. “They're not versed in the intricacies of souls like myself. I can mark the living for collection when they die? I don't often, it takes too much energy to be worthwhile most of the time. They never make it to the lifestream. Lahabrea could easily have left a mark on you, to take you as his vessel again and again.” Thancred's jaw eased on the fingers in his mouth. Fear coiled in Thancred’s gut at the possibility laid before him.  R'vanoh gripped his chin with spit-slick fingers. Thancred exhaled heavily, “You could have asked.” “You could trust me,” he stated, simple, quiet. Thancred glared up at R'vanoh. “You slept with him, Vanoh. You knew I was possessed and said nothing. You told no one. How am I meant to trust you again?” “...He was too strong, too old and heavy, to force out with my own techniques. I hoped that he'd leave you, if I pushed ‘you’ hard enough. Harder than I ever had before. I lacked technique in my attempts to convince him, I know. You're the one of us trained in navigating that particular psychological battleground. I failed you.” R'vanoh fell silent. He pulled his hand back and sat at the foot of the bed. Thancred hadn't seen him like this before. R'vanoh had almost always been indifferent about mortality,  as if it didn't affect him- now he was wavering.  Thancred sat up, “You should have told the Scions.” “They might have killed you, really killed you. I couldn't risk it.” His tail twitched, but he barely moved otherwise. Thancred waited a few heartbeats. “Vanoh, what he did- I'll fight you. Touching me like he did…” “I'll sleep on the couch.” R'vanoh replied simply. “Get some sleep.” “Vanoh, don't-” R'vanoh looked at Thancred with a sad smile. “You should lock the door behind me and let me sleep on the couch. Only invite those you can truly trust into your bed when you're weak, Thancred. I'll be here when you wake. We can talk then.” “You stubborn old fool,” Thancred huffed. He locked the door that night.

I am FULLY implying that Exarch is not mentally independent here. Dude is practically hive-minded with the tower. The tower wants it's emperor on that fuckin throne. The tower doesn't /need/ two emperors. The one less 'damaged' by it's curse is preferred. The only reason G'raha Tia gets to walk-?
"If you stay I'm afraid I won't let you leave the tower," he answered simply, a morose look in his eyes. "I really should not keep you like that. You deserve a little adventure, G'raha Tia." G'raha's head tilted, studying the face that might one day be his. He chewed his lip and took a deep breath before replying, "I'll go and I'll even wander on adventures, but only if you promise not to hide from me when I come back to tell you about them." Yeah, w/o G'raha there, Exarch is an independent being. With both of them there? There's no guarantee he'll remain so- Exarch is quite literally turning into part of the tower.
"I did not feel that," he whispered quietly. "I cannot rightly feel any of where the crystal has spread." "Ah, an idea springs to mind then…" G'raha murmured. He reached through the bond with the tower, into his royal blood, twisted his aether through it and kissed with it woven in the gesture. The Exarch keened, grasping at the barely-on uniform pants in his grip. G'raha paused and pulled back, checking the Exarch's face for any distress. The older man nearly ripped off the rest of G'raha's uniform with a snarl. "Keep going, Raha." The energetic laugh and hands pulling at his robes were enough to know he was going to be thoroughly indulged. Silk robes were pooled around his feet and he was pressed against the foot of the throne. G'raha licked and mouthed along his crystal shoulder, moaning softly to let the Exarch feel the vibrations through the connection their royal blood supplied. He was putty for his younger self, his body obeying every command as readily as the tower once did for him.

The summoning was supposed to pull the Warrior of Light across the rift, and again, he failed. This time worse than all the others. The Scions were close, truly. He'd changed his calculations. Pulled another across the rift- one who quite possibly could pull down the whole facade. He'd summoned his younger self. A young boy in comparison, who now was asleep on the floor of his Ocular on the First. The Exarch's heart was slamming against ribs so harshly it ached. The staff slipped from his hands and his legs gave out from underneath him. Each rattle of the staff on the crystal floor echoed through the tower, a cacophony that vibrated the Exarch's crystalline bones. G'raha Tia awoke.
