I recently learned that wikipedia editors who meet certain (not too onerous) requirements can get access to a pretty big range of online resources. Might be of interest to you: wikipedialibrary.wmflabs.org

which rarely maps to a specific "nation" and revisionist attempts to make it do so are generally bad and involve a lot of suffering all around

And even that is messy because while self-determination as an idea is tied to the history of nationalism and thus ethnic identity, in practice it actually accrues to the population of a territory

Regarding white people: It's a bad question, which is either meaningless or pre-accepts the proposition that white people are a nation

I think that accepting a framework where self-determination is conditioned on past behavior is different from one conditioned on future behavior. But also that any framework other than the one used by the UN has extremely limited practical effect

I will restate: what a population may determine should have no effect on whether they are entitled to self-determination or not, otherwise it is not truly self-determination

I will grant that "who are the people determining" is a valid point of contention, but I think it's a weak argument here (given the de facto state of things on the ground, and the length of time for which that has persisted, I think it's too technical a question to be broadly persuasive)

It undercuts the core concept of self-determination if the quality of the determination made affects whether a group is entitled to it

I have a slight desire to see the top of the A’s similarly break the top line but I think it would be too much

Only *now* noticed that the center of the M descends below the base line a little, which I’m into but I don’t know how I feel about tightness with the G below it. I think positively because of how it accentuates the funkiness, but I need to ponder it more

If you do shift the third line O, it might be directly underneath/aligned with the second line O and I’m not totally sure whether that’s a feature of this change or a problem with it
December 6, 2025 at 7:16 PM
Maybe because the A-I reads really tight to me, so that affects how I read the I-N and the U-N doesn’t have that right next to it. The I-N (like the H-E) also draws my attention more because it’s the end of the line; feels more prominent
