Modified from a writing by Shelton Ponder about my 2x great uncle.

CORNELIUS BIRD (1896-1967); FLORIST, GARDENER AND COOK. PEOPLE NEAR AND FAR, BLACK AND WHITE WOULD PURCHASE PLANTS FROM HIS GREENHOUSE. AND HE COULD EVEN PREDICT THE WEATHER.

What do we do now! We volunteer and donate to special elections! Josh Weil and Gay Valimont in Florida need support flipping two red congressional seats. Regaining seats in the House and Senate has the greatest power to combat the chaos that is unfolding in D.C. There will also be spec elec in NY.

In Matthew 5 Jesus is teaching the people aka us. He teaches us that we are the light of the world. He teaches us there is no benefit in anger or stooping down to the way evil-doers fight. And He wraps it all up by telling us to love our enemies because sun and rain fall on all of us. I'm trying.

During the 2013 shutdown our kids saw yellow tape around everything in DC including the MLK monument. I am reminded today that Replicans prefer self harm over greater good. I'm chosing to focus on this quote "We must accept finite disappointment, but never lose infinite hope." #martinlutherkingday
