While it's important to let our federal representatives know what we expect from them, it's just as important to let our local leaders know that people will be watching to see what they do next. We need them to stand up for what's right and just as much as we need those in DC.

What we are witnessing is the attempted erasure of a group of people, and God forbid this becomes a reality, the literal policing by the State of what is a woman.

We can ignore what we hate, but we can't ignore the plight of those we care about and empathize with.

The rage that builds come from the ignorance of others and those who choose to be ignorant in the face of the facts in front of them.

Remember, that rage is rooted in love and humanity.

The problem here is Antifa is a movement, not a group or organization, that opposes fascism and its ideology. A bill like this is a tool to suppress opposition to right-wing policies over the fear of being labeled a terrorist.

That, everyone, is what fascism does.

Eliminating these initiatives will not only hurt those who need them most. They will also hurt those who are otherwise unaffected by them.

At the end of the day, ALL students will miss out.

Our students deserve better.
