With a deliciously gothic atmosphere, queer characters from across the world, and high intrigue as the various Houses strive for control of the shattered city, the DOMINION OF THE FALLEN trilogy asks 'what is the price of power and what is the price

Of peace?’

The trilogy has been out of print for a while now. That’s changing in March 2026, thanks to @awfulagent.bsky.social! These new editions of the award-winning trilogy feature bonus stories in the world of the Fallen and introductions by SFF luminaries Kate Elliott and Adrian Tchaikovsky

Hi! Am currently deep in autistic burnout and I need to minimize demands on myself. What this means - I’m going to try to resume posting reviews here in April, hopefully simultaneously with when I put them up on Storygraph.

Chilling with a good novella, and Gundam Wing is playing in the background at this coffee place.

This is a story being told by one of the nameless servants in the house and focuses on the parts of the Bluebeard myth that we don't hear much of - the dead wives, the servants who witnessed it and couldn't stop it, and essentially a choir of ghosts of the dead

And if like me you're reading this in the first few months of 2025, let it serve as reassurance that yes, while the next four years are going to fucking suck, the work is being done, and has been done, and will continue to be done, and here's a way of doing it.

The author I think also doesn't quite realize how much bot effects are playing into our reality already, but he issues a strong and timely warning that I'm about 70% sure is being ignored by those in tech, who are more concerned with "number go up".
