honestly as much as that sorta meme-laden flanderization can get obnoxious, at the end of the day theres something really magcial about how different worldviews and perspectives lead to such wildly different takes on the series in actual proper Works™ that i think its a worthwhile trade-off

I think it comes from attachment and love for the series at the end of the day but its genuinely so baffling to me why people ever go further than "oh thats lame i dont like that" with it. Western fandom loves an adherence to Canon beyond all else its so lame

Even then on that one its like. who cares let people make overly edgy stuff with this, touhou project is such a culture in itself and a big part why its still so influencial IS because people enjoy playing around with it and doing their own takes

Theres definitely a sizable chunk of queer people into it thats like slowly subsumming the dudebros but the latter are still so everywhere and they talk about it so missrably its crazy
