But in my opinion:

1. Presents a mystery.
2. You can see the backgrounds right away and how they influence the character choices.
3. The choices are not artificial and go fluidly.
4. Gives you a problem that makes the characters join as a party for the adventure

As a DnD player, I love it :3

Perhaps what makes it "slow" or not so appealing at the beginning (for some), is because the "narrator" doesn't talk much Afterwards in the vn and now we see through the character perspectives, changing the way the story is narrated to a more traditional VN style of story (except the first person).

And on top of it all, the setting, being a DnD campaign inspired story, makes it seem like a Dm presenting the characters one by one.

In my opinion, the intro is absolutely amazing for the reason you just described, the story has to do a lot about generational trauma, the influence of different ambience, and how those perspectives collide.
