Just this guy, you know?
a long haul flight to Colombia doesn't sound like a "quiet break" to me. It's not a weekend in the Peak District or the Cotswolds, is it?

I had a pizza recently, that had hot honey on it. I assumed (and asked) if this meant mostarda, of which I am a fan. But no, it was hot honey. It was nice, but I've no desire to have heated honey inflicted on me generally. (There was that time in an Austrian sauna, but that was a long time ago.)

missed your original recommendation, but caught this and downloading them. Thanks!

absolutely, I remember at the time the speculation about what to do with this "unexpected headroom" and shouting multiple times at the radio to reduce the national debt, at least a bit. And instead, he spanked it. Turns out radios don't work that way. 😟

Lovely book, I agree! I read it around the time of a visit to the Sir John Soanes Museum, and I swear it must have been an influence on the story (works by Piranesi, rooms cluttered with wondrous artefacts), so visit (it's in London) if you get the chance! www.soane.org

Thanks for this! Jackie Stewart has been a background fixture throughout my life, his prowess in shooting and Motorsport echoing the family interests. A bit of a legend.

wow, I've not seen much Peterson, very deliberately, but gosh, an academic claiming not to be able to respond to a hypothetical is utterly preposterous.

absolutely spot on. They (Tories, Reform, and most of the media, from The Sun to the BBC) treat things as just larks. England sinking giggling into the sea, as Peter Cook put it.

what about an analogy with spitting on the floor? That's banned on the tube. It doesn't cause any harm though, right? In fact, I see there are TfL byelaws that already cover music (section 7.1.ii) tfl.gov.uk/cdn/static/c... So really this is all about enforcement (as others have noted).

Blueberry, raspberry, improperly mixed? If my code book is still accurate, this is an instruction to destroy everything immediately. Please telephone your nearest RAF base by landline and request a Code 27A. May God have mercy on you all.

@iandunt.bsky.social, I can report that I have recently gone through that life stage milestone. Since last week, I've been happily unfurling it & refurling it to show to semi-interested family & friends. Mind you, currently, I'm too scared to take it outside unless I'm going to someone's house.

Well done on episode 2, @sturdyalex.bsky.social ! I really enjoyed this, I like the structure you've established, the story, the meaning, the roots and its influences. I haven't seen Hadestown, perhaps I'll try now! Keep up the good work! 😃
