It has inspired me to be and do things better in 2026.

Took a lot of L’s this year, including my reading goal. I was aiming for 12 books, but ended up panic reading a 100-plus pages today just to say I hit 7. 📖💨

Not the win I wanted, but we pivot and try again in 2026.

My 6th book for the year.

Brilliantly written and takes you on a whirlwind of events over a weekend in Lagos.

My 5th for the year.

My favourite lines in the book were these: “There was not a single man whom I was willing to put before my dreams… I was happy to date guys, but not at the cost of my independence or freedom and especially not my career.” But in my family, parents decided this for my sisters.

Also, their strategy of using young people vs elders….

My 4th book for the year.

I must say I struggled with this one at the start. And then towards the end, when I was beginning to enjoy it, came this sentence, “If you think this book is incomprehensible or meaningless, it has not yet happened to you…”.

I guess I’ll be reading this again soon. 😬

Took me a while, but I thoroughly enjoyed this. Chimamanda is brilliant at combining fiction, with history and current events.

Low-key embarrassed that I’m only reading this now. 🤭🙈 but it was a decent read, to get me ready for the next novel on my list.
