I could watch a lot more footage of him saving children and old people from normal everyday accidents.

Also, when you have clear responsibilities and you fail to meet them, that's malicious.

Nice! I’m always intimidated by the slashes in CSS values :)

Can’t ya just do grid-row: 1 and grid-column: 1?
March 27, 2025 at 3:29 AM
I don’t think this is that weird of a way to make the decision, at least if your set of options are all reasonable and there’s no clear technical reason to favor one over another.

I mean a high level of abstraction, not high level as in “a broad topic.”

They’re not there by default. I suppose that could be a fair criticism of Tailwind! But I think that your semantic color tokens is a much higher level of abstraction that is very application-specific and should be designed and owned in house.

> If you did want to have flexibility with some class naming convention, classes would need to be named semantically.

Semantic color names are ubiquitous in the Tailwind world, e.g. text-primary, bg-destructive, etc. This is “the right way” to do theming in Tailwind (don’t use the dark: modifier!)

Yeah definitely no close historical relationship between forced displacement, ethnic cleansing, and genocide

I love how it's not just *fiction* writers that invoke the quantum realm when they run out of ideas/hope.

It’s also reasonable to choose who you do business with based on things that you value.
January 28, 2025 at 12:11 AM
Agreed. It’s either that, or the implication is “Number 1 Dad in this family” which is quite patronizing!

Is it slot machine reels due to the addictive nature of the product, or film reels due to the fact that you're sharing videos?

Now that I think of it, fishing reels also function well as a reference to the engagement-baiting nature of the product.

This drives me crazy. Parked cars taking two thirds of the width of my neighborhood streets. Barely one car can pass through at a time. All so people can fill their garages with junk. Effectively the streets are taxpayer-subsidized junk storage.

3:2 sounds pretty interesting. Enjoy emulating Game Boy Advance games at 16x integer scaling!

And the cases that stand out as super creepy (I’ve experienced a few of them!) are probably subtle things like someone in the conversation googling the thing you talked about on the same WiFi network as you.

This is one of those claims that definitely isn’t true but it will probably literally become true faster than people’s minds can be changed 😆

If you were to actually read the post you would see that it is about a model not having wireless charging.

“Fragmented the industry” yeah, I can’t believe they got all those airports and new home builders to put lightning ports in the walls!

Truly scrabbles my mind

I suspect most lithium batteries for low-cost consumer electronics will not last for 10 years, and even if they did, you wouldn’t be able to find a compatible replacement 10 years later. AA is a pretty reasonable long-term bet.
