So I don't know the details as to what his go-fund-me is for and what he needs money for. I would guess that if he were arrested he'd have to pay for lawyers and whatnot, but I saw you mention that over 100k was given which seems excessive - hence why I tagged him and recommended he donate.

This point is valid - the other attacks on Roadsteamer are unfair, but you're not wrong here - this is an example of poorly investing valuable resources. Hopefully @roadsteamer.bsky.social donates some of those earnings to others in need of legal aid, given what we're all facing.

Perhaps its time to seek care in a place that isn't dependent on federal funding. That may be the path for people whose care is being impacted by these changes. 10/1 was when Trump's budget went into effect, directed by his EO which punishes organizations out of compliance with these guidelines.

I don't know that they could honestly. In looking at what's probably going on - Trump's EO 14187 directs HHS/HRSA/SAMHSA to align with new guidelines which exclude this care, eliminating funding to agencies that don't comply. This began effectively 10/1 due trump's OBBB going into effect.

I don't know that they can afford the cost after losing 26 million over the past few years, not a small amount of money. CHCs are lucky if they can operate in the black and rely on federal grants and subsidies. The feds could literally shut them down in a matter of days if they wanted to.

I get your frustration - I do. There's no way for them to resist this. I don't think you're thinking clearly about this. There are people who rely on Fenway's services for essential medical treatments that they may die without access to, including my trans friends who are medication dependent.

A) would be to resist and shutter all operations as they would hemorrhage funding and be subject to legal action as they are a FEDERALLY QUALIFIED health center
B) adjust their rules so that they can continue to provide care for the thousands of patients who rely on their services.

I understand why folks are angry and it's upsetting to see this happening. I worked in community health for a decade and wrote grants that received federal funds. I have insight into how FQHCs operate. Fenway must abide by this as they rely heavily on Federal funds. They have no choice.
