Updated to iOS 26.1 this morning. New iphone UI gave me vertigo and triggered migraine. Went to figure out how to disable — not possible. Found lots of reports of this issue going back months. How does a UI that makes people physically ill get released.

The power to toss the county to war, the power to appropriate, tax and spend, the power to make law — these are the powers granted to Congress and the President must get the consent of Congress by legislation before they act, except in extreme urgency.

Americans might be about to experience war in a way we haven’t in our lifetimes. I pray we don’t, but this attack on Iran is extremely high risk.

My big insight this week is to start thinking of tools like ChatGPT as narrative /story telling machines, instead of thinking /ai systems. If you want better results give it a persona, with a backstory and goals, establish your relationship with the character.

Not shocked that the GOP senators balking at the deficit implications of the Bad Bullshit Bill think the solution is to cut seniors healthcare instead of scaling back the tax cuts. But I am disappointed.

Trump’s obviously unconstitutional tariff now has to be refunded. The merchants and retailers will get the refund, but consumers will still have overpaid. Americans will also be on the hook for the 💵 we borrow to pay this back. We’ve also lost money from exports bc other countries ⬆️ tariffs.

When it rains in DC the sewers send a mix of shit and runoff loaded with bacteria into the creeks and rivers. My understanding is that the water is actually swim-able if it hasn’t rained for several days. RFK Jr went swimming the day after the rain.
