Interesting study indicates that universal free school meals decreases the incidence of high blood pressure. Proud to be from Minnesota, where we have this great program! www.washington.edu/news/2025/09...
After schools instituted universal free meals, fewer students had high blood pressure, UW study finds
Students schools that offered free meals to all students were less likely to have high blood pressure, suggesting that universal free meals might be a powerful tool for improving public health.

Shopped for health insurance. I have a silver plan. My monthly premium would go up 24% if I stayed with the same plan. So I’m moving down to a bronze plan so my monthly premium only goes up 10%. I’ll definitely remember this next time I vote

probably my most deeply-held belief: it is not possible for a slide deck to be both (1) a good presentation aide; and (2) a standalone document that can be read and understood in isolation.

Interesting piece on the obesity crisis. We were told for a long time that exercise could fix everything, when in fact it was the food making us fat! We need to rethink our policies and approach to ultra-processed food: www.washingtonpost.com/wellness/202...
What causes obesity? A major new study is upending common wisdom.
Many people assume obesity is caused by inactivity and burning fewer calories. But our diets — and excess calorie intake — may actually be the cause.

Anyone else unable to find milk? Just went to a number of stores and they are all out. I live in MN, and if this is what “winning” looks like, no thank you.

I know everyone is worried about the $6 trillion in market value lost over the past few days, but never fear! We only have to sell 1.2 million of the $5 million “gold card” US citizenships Donald Trump is hawking to wipe out the losses! 🤣😂

Really disappointed that the NFL won’t let teams be on BlueSky if they want. Looks like I won’t be watching the games this weekend. www.theverge.com/2025/1/22/24...
NFL teams can’t use Bluesky
Bluesky isn’t ready for game day yet.

Yeesh. Have the Delta Amex Platinum, and apparently flew in the top 5% of Skymiles Members, and that was only good for Silver status. Wonder if it makes more sense to earn on an agnostic travel credit card, like Chase Sapphire?
