Retired, fly fisher, fomenting rational, compassionate revolution
Another demonstration of the willful ignorance at the heart of this administration.

It is truly pathetic, a lifetime of shame and insecurity, projection and terrified bravado. It’s interesting that the act appeals to so many people. And depressing.

Lizard brain mentality, always need more, beware the interloper, make friends with the bully

What’s interesting is that he’s saying it out loud, to curry favor from our Fuehrer. He’s not really
Changing things, except
he cut some deal with the duchy of Texas to move his minions there. “Abandon hope ….”

That said, there is something appealing about Rudy on a spit.

Sometimes it takes longer to find your bliss. You’re never to old to start, or to admit how much you don’t know. (I’ve been learning fly fishing for 70 years.)

Really useful advice. Valuable not just for scientists, of course.

Humans are political. As an ideal, science should not be. This is that part about not believing everything you think, which takes us back to questioning ALL our assumptions. It’s a process, and not, in this world, a destination.

A mistake is a terrible thing to waste, if we stop learning we stop progressing. Beginner’s mind: The first wisdom is accepting that we don’t know. Science is the commitment not to believe everything we think and to constantly question our assumptions.

Making it actionable. As Bucky Fuller said, you can’t see the forest until there are too many trees. But you have to start somewhere, like a map, in order to actually see your path.

Ahhh, the war between precision and accuracy, the whole gestalt versus the actionable (the territory and the map, again). Don’t give up.

We have to keep trying to find the language that best describes the idea. Assuming the idea is static enough to be put into words of any language.

Information/data first has to separated from the noise, and then organized to give meaning to the parts and the whole - the forest, the trees, the snowstorm — sort it to get a map (which is not the territory). Do it again.
