Cachyos makes arch much easier to install than it otherwise usually is, as far as I understand. That's a huge win, because I really vibe with it. The arch community don't like flatpacks, and neither do I. Again, the rolling update model is such a relief. The AUR is so comprehensive too.

But versus windows, yeah it's more performant for games. Any hassle setting things up is the same as or less than Windows. Getting Windows 11 to connect to a guest smb share was a nightmare, for example, or jumping through hoops to use a local account, disable one drive, copilot etc.

Even versus debian based distros it's great - I love the rolling updates model, especially with snapper support to take the risk out of it. Raspbian frustrates me every few years when they up the version number & the apt repo disappears.

I finally moved from windows to cachyOS this month and it's been an amazingly smooth experience.
