We had an adult's sock like that one in the Leicester Costume Museum. Coptic, 3rd C AD. There was a story that the museum had a visitor from Corah, a famous knitwear manufacturer. who then started a new fashion, producing socks with stripes and separate toes that became trendy late 70s, early 80s.

Daughter is visiting Whitby tonight, N Yorkshire. I have many childhood memories, wonderful Whitby, fishing town, famous for its black jet, Saxon Abbey, St Hild and...Dracula, Gothic Lit. Tonight, a real Yuletide pea-souper, after a visit to the Dracula Museum. Could it be more, well, atmospheric?

The roots of western astrology are said to have started around latitude 36 degrees & 32 minutes. Those shepherds watching their flocks by night should probably get some credit too, with astrologers. All that star watching and data correlating, plus of course, having incoming angels to reckon with.
